Two-day voting for SCBA election ends

A two-day voting for electing new leadership of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) ended yesterday.

Some 3,928 lawyers out of 5,081 cast their votes at the SCBA auditorium in Dhaka.

The main contest in the election took place between the ruling Awami League-backed candidates and BNP-Jamaat-backed candidates, SCBA sources said.

AL lawmaker and former law minister Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru, BNP leader and former SCBA president Advocate Zainul Abedin and Advocate Eunus Ali Akond are contesting for the post of SCBA president.

Former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Advocate Robiul Alam Budu, incumbent SCBA secretary and former BNP lawmaker Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Advocate Ashoke Kumar Ghosh and Advocate Abu Yahia Dulal are contesting for the post of SCBA secretary.
