StanChart regional CEO in Dhaka

Anna Marrs, regional CEO for ASEAN and South Asia and CEO for commercial and private banking at Standard Chartered Bank, has arrived in Dhaka for her first official visit to Bangladesh.

During her two-day visit, she will meet senior government officials, regulators along with clients and customers of the bank.

She will mainly focus on how Standard Chartered can further contribute to Bangladesh's economic growth and the development of its financial sector, the bank said in a statement yesterday.

“Marrs's visit reiterates the Group's strong commitment to Bangladesh,” said Abrar A Anwar, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh.

“As the oldest financial institution in the country with a heritage of over 111 years and deep local knowledge, we are committed to supporting Bangladesh's growth.”

“We will continue to invest in technology and innovative financial solutions that will drive trade, investment and the creation of wealth in the market,” Anwar said.

Marrs joined Standard Chartered as group head of strategy and corporate development in January 2012, according to the statement.

She lived and worked primarily in New York, London and now in Singapore. She obtained an MBA from London Business School and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Chicago.
