Police will seek further remand for Bhola, who "supplied firearms" to Mitu's murderers, as during the two-day remand he did not "clearly" reveal who directed him.
“It is now clear who murdered Mitu and how. Now we are focusing on whether they committed the murder on their own or directed by anyone else,” said CMP Commissioner Iqbal Bahar yesterday.
After two-day remand, Ehtesamul Huq alias Bhola, a Chittagong court sent him to jail yesterday.
Former SP Babul Akther's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, 32, was stabbed and shot dead in the port city on June 5, 2016. Police arrested Motaleb Mia Wasim and Md Anwar on June 25, 2016. On June 27, the two in a confessional statement at a Chittagong court stated names of five persons -- Kamrul Sikder alias Musa, Nabi, Rashed, Kalu and Shahjahan -- who took part in the killing along with the duo and led by Musa. They also said Bhola supplied the firearms to them.
