A huge quantity of cotton was gutted in a fire that broke out at a cotton warehouse in Narsingdi Sadar upazila early today.
The fire broke out at the warehouse in Shahepratap area around 4:00am, burning hundreds of tonnes of cotton and thread to ashes, our local correspondent reports quoting Md Selim, senior station officer of Narsingdi Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information, eight fire fighting units from Narsingdi, Madhabdi and Shibpur stations rushed to the scene and doused the blaze at 10:00am, said the senior station officer said.
The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage could not be known immediately.
