A fire gutted valuables of nine houses in Telapara village of Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong early yesterday.
Originated from an electric short circuit at one of the houses around 1:40am soon spread to the adjacent houses, said Bshwantor Barua of Agrabad Fire Service Control Room
On information, two fire fighting units in three vehicles rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze around 3:20am.
The fire gutted valuables worth Tk 2.5 lakh, he said.
