Pro-Awami League “blue panel” won nine posts out of 10 in the dean election of Dhaka University yesterday.
From BNP-Jamaat-backed “white panel”, Prof Md Hasanuzzaman was elected engineering and technology faculty dean for two years.
Around 965 teachers cast their votes to elect seven deans at the Senate building of DU.
Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Prof ASM Maksud Kamal and Prof Rahmat Ullah of the “blue panel” were declared deans of social science, earth and environmental science, and law faculties uncontested respectively as none submitted nomination papers.
Other elected deans are Prof Abu Md Delwar Hosain (arts), Prof Abdul Aziz (science), Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam (business studies), Prof Imdadul Hoque (biological science), Prof SM Abdur Rahman (pharmacy), and Prof Nisar Hossain (fine arts). Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin Ahmed, the election commissioner, announced the results.
