Remain vigilant to protect communal harmony

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday urged the members of community police to remain alert so that no quarter can destroy the communal harmony.

He was addressing as the chief guest a rally organsied by Chittagong Metropolitan Community Policing Coordination Committee at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong.

Terming community policing as a problem-solving one, he said it will play a vital role against drug peddling, stalking and repression on women.

Referring to the recent attacks at Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, he said a quarter is trying to show that it was happening as Islam is being hurt. “If anyone hurts religious sentiment, he would be punished as per law,” he said.
