Five people, including a journalist, were killed in road accidents in three districts yesterday and on Thursday night.
In Khulna city, a staff reporter of the Daily Noyapara was killed as a bus rammed his motorcycle in Maniktala area under Daulatpur Police Station yesterday.
The deceased was Jahangir Alam, 38, of west Senpara in Moshsharpasha area. He was the general secretary of Khulna Reporters Club.
Anawar Hossain, officer-in-charge of the station, said following the incident locals blocked the Khuna-Jessore highway for two hours disrupting vehicular movement.
In Dinajpur, two men were killed on the spot as a stone-laded truck turned turtle on Dinajpur-Bogra highway in Motihara village under Nawabganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased were Shahjahan Ali, 40, and Abdul Mannan, 40. They hailed from Kishoreganj.
In Kaharol upazila of the district, Zakirul Islam, 30, of Shahinagar village was killed as a three-wheeler turned turtle on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in Bhatgaon village yesterday.
In Naogaon, Selim Mia, 32, of Bhagaprul village was killed as his three-wheeler turned turtle in Nishchitapur village of Sapahar upazila on Thursday night.
