Cattle trader shot dead by BSF

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Bangladeshi cattle trader dead near Kushkhali border in Sadar upazila early yesterday.

The deceased, Moslem Ali, 28, was son of Jahir Ali of Panchraki village in the upazila.

Moslem's father-in-law Babar Ali said Indian border guards at Khalisha camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders when Moslem along with 4/5 others were returning home through the border.

Moslem died on the spot about 300 hundred yards inside Indian territory from the 'zero line', Babar said.

One of the villagers, seeking anonymity, said a police team of Swarupnagar Police Station under Bashirhat Sub-division in India took away Moslem's body around 9:30am.

Nayek Subedar Mohammad Ali of BGB Kushkhali camp said they heard about the incident and are investigating the matter.
